Mini Voice Lesson

There's a Zimbabwe proverb which states "If you can talk you can sing."
As a singing teacher, I believe everyone has the innate ability to sing!
To give it a try, click on the sample singing exercise above...

"Cynthia is a marvelous voice teacher.  She has the ability to point out small corrections or changes that make a huge difference in the sound of my voice. It is a joy to work with her.  She is encouraging while helping me shape the sound of my voice in a more pleasing way."

THE SINGING LESSON PROCESS

1.    Set up an INITIAL LESSON - $60 for 1 hour
In this first hour together we will discuss any musical background you might have (none is required!) and your singing goals.  In addition, I will have you sing a favorite song of yours to establish a baseline from which you are starting (it doesn't have to be anything fancy - I love hearing "Happy Birthday" :-).  From there we will begin exploring your vocal range, breathing techniques, vocal support and various singing drills.  My aim is to demystify the singing process for you and to create a learning environment which feels safe, creative, supportive and inspiring.

2.    Schedule a series of WEEKLY LESSONS - Rates listed above
To benefit from your investment in singing lessons, I do recommend that you commit to weekly lessons at the start.  This initial commitment will help you lay the proper foundation of technique and muscle memory which will allow you to claim your unique voice.  You'll be amazed at how quickly you can progress...

GENERAL LESSON OUTLINE:

1st Half of the Lesson - Brief Physical Warm-Up
Breathwork & Support
Singing Drills
2nd Half of the Lesson - Application of Techniques to a Song of Your Choice
(We will work together to find songs you are excited to sing!)

3.
    SING OUT SESSIONS - optional
Every so often my students have expressed a desire to gain more experience singing in front of others.  In addition to potentially recommending various venues that exist in San Francisco, I occasionally arrange a week-end "Sing Out Session." I gather my current students together to sing and to perform for one another.  It's great fun, and a good oppportunity to build self-confidence. Regardless of experience level, it is a supportive atmosphere and has been met with enthusiasm and appreciation by students who have chosen to participate. On occasion, some students have requested to simply attend and not to sing a solo in order to bolster their courage, and that has been just fine too!
